Herbalist and Iridologist
Peter Jackson-Main
Peter has been involved in Natural Medicine for over 40 years, originally entering training fresh out of Cambridge university in the 1970’s. Before finding the College of Herbs and Natural Healing Peter had already found and trained in Reflexology, Massage and Aromatherapy, Polarity Therapy and humanistic psychotherapy.
Peter’s interests led him to a Master of Sciences degree in which, through an enquiry into ethnobotany and traditional medicine, he examined the nature of research itself and concluded that standard biomedical research models are ill-suited to assess complex interventions such as plant medicine and natural healing.
Peter has worked extensively within the herbal and naturopathic community to promote the self-determination of the profession and navigate the legislative environment surrounding the use of natural medicines.
Peter has become one of the UK’s most prominent practitioners and teachers and has worked as an advisor and consultant at government level on legislative issues affecting herbal medicines. He is currently also Academic Director and Herbal Medicine Course Director at the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM).
Peter has a special interest in Iridology and has developed a practice which he calls Iris Counselling, which maximises the potential for personal self-evaluation and empowerment in health. Practical Iridology was originally published in 2004, was republished in 2023 in an expanded, revised edition, and is still selling well around the world. Peter’s second book on Iridology, The Mind’s Eye, was published in November 2024.
